Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum, & Larson Files.

As I was cleaning the kitchen this morning, I realized that there was quiet throughout my house. Not a good thing. I went to investigate. I found that it was:

Larson,
In the bathroom,
With an entire roll of toilet paper, ripped to shreds, and stuffed in the toilet.

I knew that the day would come when I would have to stick my hand down the toilet because of something that my child had put into it. I guess it's good to get the initial "hand in the toilet" over with. Now when it happens again (and I'm sure it will), I will be ready.

In other news:
Larson knows how to climb onto things to get what he wants out of the pantry.
It didn't take him too long to get over the guilt of it all......

Secily Close Up

Secily is growing so much. She is smiling and talking and has these beautiful 'blueberry' eyes- just like her Aunt Lesley! Here are a few close-ups.

A Larson List

Here are 10 things that Larson is doing these days:

1. Imitating. He will imitate whoever is around. He imitates actions mainly, since he is not really into speaking all that much. Here he is "filling up the lawnmowers" just like Daddy does.

2. Not wanting to get dressed in the morning. For some reason, he is loving just being in his diaper. Actually, he doesn't even like the diaper that much, but thankfully he has not figured how to take it off yet. So, if you stop by our house and my child is not clothed, you will know why.

3. Helping. Larson loves to be a helper to me or to Ryan. Like yesterday for instance, when I was loading the dishwasher he was being a helper and took all of the dirty cutlery and put them into my clean cutlery drawer :) Here he is helping Ryan play the guitar.

4. Elmo. We have started letting him watch Sesame Street on some days. He loves Elmo. He pronounces it "Melmo".

5. Seperation Anxiety. He is not liking getting dropped off in the church nursery. He starts crying when we get to the church parking lot. It's so sad. He settles down really quickly once he is there, and he has a good time, it's just the drop off that is bad.

6. Learning new things quickly. We just learned 'knees', and what a kitty & a cow says, and how to say Secily. He picks up on these things much faster now.

7. Toys that sing. He just got this fridge magnet farm animal thing. You can put the animals in the farm & it sings this little song. He loves playing with it.

8. Climbing. On the coffee table, on his little table, on the kitchen table, on the chairs, on anything he possibly can!

9. Saying "hi" and "bye". He will say it to anyone.

10. Dumping things out. He loves to dump stuff - like his blocks from their bag, or the baskets of toys that are in his room, anything that he can turn upside down, and the stuff inside makes a lot of noise falling out.

Pal-ing Around

I was taking pictures of Larson & Secily before bed last night. It is still a total gong show trying to get both kids to look at the camera at once, this is as close as we got!

They look like true siblings though,..... it looks like Secily is going to give Larson a playful punch in the face!

Secily the Superstar!!

Well, it was a great weekend for many reasons, the first one being that:
Secily slept through the night....twice!! Yeah! Here is the superstar with her very happy Mommy.

The weekend was also good because:
***We got to hang out with Bryan & Eriana, Jeff & Chandra, and Garrett & Jen. It was a great Saturday night, complete with football (even though Tech lost...boooo), Trivial Pursuit and Rootbeer floats.

***Bryan & Eraina brought Ryan a gift. It was the piano music to all of the songs in High School Musical. He's been practicing already.

***Our Sunday School class is hilarious. Our lesson today was about Noah & the ark. At one point during the story, I said "The ark was like a floating zoo" to which one of our kids said "What if it had been a floating library instead?" Hmm...I hadn't thought of that before.....
Also, during the story, one of the sweet little girls raises her hand and asks why there had to be 2 of each animal. Uh....ok....I wasn't planning on going there when I was planning the lesson. I think I put together some answer about having a Mommy and a Daddy animal so they could have baby animals.

***Ryan & I joined a Sunday evening class at church. It's a "Walk Through the Bible" type class with our senior pastor. We really like him, so I think we will really like the class.

***I took pictures with both Larson & Secily.

Go Huskies!

As of Sept. 6 my Dad switched off of the alumni roster, and re-joined the current students at the University of Saskatchewan! Here is a picture of him on his "first day of school".

Notice he has a different kind of 'notebook' than I did when I went to school! :)

I love it that he and my little brother Erik are now classmates! Way to go Dad!

Early Life Lessons

It doesn't take very long on this earth to figure out that You Want to Lick the Beater!!

In addition to making cookies, we also went to the park today...

And Secily was Miss Merry Sunshine in her yellow outfit....

Sweet Kisses

Larson was being sweet with Secily today, and I actually caught it on camera!

Sweet Kisses

Larson also did a little piano playing.

Video....

Ok, so I said that I couldn't upload video of Ryan unicycling on my blog the other day, but we did get it downloaded to YouTube. So, check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeEII071ZNk

Secily just had her 2 month appointment and is still off the charts for her growth! She weighed in today at 14 lbs. 2oz. You should see her legs, they are roll upon roll upon roll.....

Larson likes to play in whatever cupboard I have open. The tupperware has been a favorite, but lately he has been into the pots. He loves to bang them together, or on the floor and make absolutely as much noise as possible. He thinks it is great. Plus, he gives new meaning to "sitting on the pot". :)

Labor Day Ramblings

When we were in Ohio, Ryan spent a considerable amount of time learning to ride the unicycle. I couldn't upload the video of him riding, so these pictures will have to do.

He is ready for any parade that might call.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Larson brought home his first "craft" from Sunday School yesterday. It was a picture of day and night, and Larson had stuck a sun sticker on the 'day', and a moon sticker on the 'night'. Brilliant. (kidding....I'm kidding about the brilliant part. seriously.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I love this picture of my mother-in-law and Secily.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am reading Pride & Prejudice - again. I love that book. I have read it at least 8 times.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We have had a great, non-eventful, Labor Day weekend. Ryan went dove hunting with his college friends, and Larson, Secily & I got to spend some time with Bryan & Eraina, and Jeff & Chandra. I am so thankful to have some family that lives close by!

Honest Abe

There are a few things that Larson knows he is not to do. For instance, he knows that he isn't suppose to touch the candles in the fireplace, he isn't suppose to eat dog food from Scout's dish, he isn't suppose to pick his nose. So, lately he has started "telling" on himself when he is misbehaving. He will stick his finger up his nose, and walk over to me or get my attention then I will say, "Larson, don't do that." He will take his finger out of his nose and go on his way. It's hilarious. Maybe he is going to make our lives really easy, and keep telling on himself for the next 17 years.
