Fa la la la la, La la la la

We had a great Christmas!
Here are the kids on the way to the Christmas Eve Service

And, then ready for bed on Christmas Eve in their new p.j's. (they were much more interested in the ornament that Larson was holding than in smiling for the camera!)

Then on Christmas day, Larson loved opening all of the gifts. He had the best time just ripping the paper!

He got a new tractor/truck book that he loves. He is very into trucks & tractors right now, so just looking at the book was not good enough for him...he really wanted to ride them....
That's right - he is sitting on the page of the book where the tractors are.

After that, you can only imagine how excited he was about his new dump-truck. Although it is not really for riding....he made a few adjustments & he was ready to go!

Secily didn't really have a clue about what was going on, but she did look adorable in a new Christmas toque from Erik & Yuriko!

YUCK.

Larson has learned this word. We didn't teach it to him, but it was abundantly clear that he knew how to say it, and what it means, when I tried to give him asparagus last night.

Brought to you today by: the Letter K, and the Number 2

Larson has just mastered the "k" sound. He says words like "sock" and "look" really well, and really emphasises the K at the end of the word. He must like the sound, because he has also started to add it to the end of many other words....for example - instead of saying no, he says "nok", instead of telling me that he has a dirty diaper, he says "pook", instead of saying help, he says "helk". Very funny.
He is also really into the number 2. I guess this is fitting since he just turned 2, and we have been practicing saying how old he is. But he also uses "2" to count off - like when he is ready to slide, he sits there counts "2" and then slides down, no lead up, nothing comes after...just "2" and away he goes.
Here he is enjoying his slide.

What a Weekend!

We had a great weekend! Glenn & Linda came in to town on Friday afternoon & we headed over to the Gaylord Texan to see the Ice Sculpture exhibit that they have there. It was great - they handed you a coat, and sent you into the rooms that they keep at 9 degrees.

There were very cool, enormous ice sculptures, and it all ended with the some ice slides. You may think that just the kids enjoyed the slides...but think again!

Saturday was filled with birthday celebration! I can't believe that Larson is 2! It has been the fastest, and best 2 years.
We had dinner with family,

and cake.

Larson had a great time. He loved all the attention!!
Here he is sharing one of his new toys with Secily.

In other BIG NEWS......my brother-in-law Preston got ENGAGED on Saturday!!!! I am so excited for him & his fiancee Katherine!

What a great weekend!

Gotcha!

Larson has been great about Secily coming along. He is so sweet with her (most of the time!). He gives her hugs, and kisses, and he feels it his responsibility to let me know if she is crying, or has spit up. There is one little thing, though, that Larson struggles with....Secily's paci. Larson wants it. All the time. He really was broken of the habit, but since Secily has come along, Larson has been plotting ways to steal her paci from her.

This morning, the house got rather quiet, so we began to look for Larson, sure enough, we found him.....

I haven't posted in a little while, but I have taken a lot of pictures. So, here is a brief re-cap of last week (excluding Monday, of course!)

For Ryan's 31st birthday we took a trip to the zoo,

Met our friends, Sarah & Lauren there,

And celebrated with cake at home.

Larson still loves to help in the kitchen. This is him making toast.

Larson & Ryan have been playing football...

Secily has been busy being adorable,

and, on Thursday....it SNOWED!!!! Larson loved it!

Monday Morning.

Let me just say before you read this post, that I love my children, and I love being at home with them. That being said......

Let me tell you about my day so far.....

6:30 a.m. - Woke up and fed Secily
7:00 - Larson started yelling "MOM" about every 3 seconds.
7:00:15 - Went to Larson's room & got him up and dressed.
7:15 - Let Larson out to play with Scout.
7:35 - Larson & Scout came in covered in mud & dirt. Larson had his first outfit change of the day.
7:45 - Started making breakfast. Larson helped. He got a hold of the cooking spray, and sprayed it all over the wall. I cleaned that up.
7:55 - We ate our eggs for breakfast. Larson wanted more. I told him "No, you can't eat more than 2 eggs, you should eat some toast instead". He didn't want toast.
8:00 - Larson went back outside to play with Scout, while I cleaned up from breakfast.
8:15 - Larson & Scout came back inside. Larson hit his head on the table. He started crying. Secily decided to join in.
8:20 - Secily went down for nap #1.
9:00 - Got out the paint for a little craft time. Larson & I started painting. I turned around to get some more paper, Larson decided to drink the water that we were dipping our paint brushes in.
9:15- We finish painting, Larson has his second outfit change of the day.
9:30 - Secily wakes up from her nap. I feed her. As I am feeding her, Larson goes into the kitchen - he comes back to me carrying an open bag of sugar from the pantry. I finish feeding Secily & clean up the sugar.
9:50 - Larson climbs up onto the desk in the office, and finds a Sharpie Marker. He brings it into the kitchen & begins writing on the pantry door. I take away the marker. I go to get the cleaning supplies to clean off the marker. While I am doing that Larson takes the trash can out of the pantry, picks out the coffee filter with coffee grounds in it, and dumps it on the floor. I finish cleaning off the marker, and then clean up the coffee.
10:05 - We load everyone up to go run some errands.
10:15 - We arrive at the post office. It takes us about 5 minutes to get everyone out of the car and in the stroller
10:20 - We enter the post office, and mail our package. This only takes us about 2 minutes.
10:22 - We get everyone back in the car. We head to Sam's.
10:35 - We get to Sam's and there are no carts in the parking lot. So, we get out - I carry Secily in her carrier & Larson walks beside me holding my hand. Only, he doesn't really want to hold my hand - he wants to walk by himself. It takes us awhile to get from the car to the store.
10:55 - We check out of Sam's with a box of diapers & a drink. Larson wants some of my drink - it's caffeine free, so I say OK, and hold it out for him to take a sip through the straw - he grabs the whole drink and spills it on himself.
11:05 - We get back in the car and head over to Wal-Mart. I park right by the cart return where there are carts waiting for us! Yeah.
11:15 - Larson shriek's his way through Wal-mart. I do my best to try to quiet him & look like I have one ounce of control over my 2 year old.
11:20 - We are back in the car and headed for home.
11:30 - We get back home. I let Larson "drive" as I unload the car. He loves it.
11:40 - I fix lunch and Larson & I eat. Larson slips Scout at least half of his meal.
11:55 - We give Secily a bath. Larson helps. All three of us wind up soaking wet.
12:05 p.m. - Larson has yet another change of clothes.
12:30 - Secily has a blow-out diaper. A HUGE blow-out.
12:36 - Secily goes back in for another bath.
12:45 - Larson goes down for a nap.
1:00 - I feed Secily & she goes down for a nap.

So, here I am, halfway through my day. I hope I make it through the next half! :)

Turkey Talk, and Polka Dots.

We had a great Thanksgiving Day yesterday. We celebrated with Jeff & Chandra, and Preston, and our good friends Tim & Sarah & Lauren.
Larson & Lauren had fun playing together - aren't they adorable...(looks like Larson might need some work on hugging.)
Secily kept herself amused.We deep fried the turkey. How Texan is that!!?!
Doesn't it look good? It was.

To carry on in the spirit of thankfulness - I am SO thankful today, on her birthday, for my Mom. Just this week, I was out shopping and got all emotional because I missed my mom. You see, she is great to have around. She is the most cheerful person you could ever meet (she likes polka dots...have you ever met an unhappy person who likes polka dots - I doubt it. If you like polka dots, you are automatically a happy person) - and that spills over into everything else that she does :) Shopping is fun with Mom, baking is fun with Mom, even cleaning is fun with her! She is such an encouragment to those around her, and is such a woman of Faith. I am so inspired by her. People always tell me that I am just like my mom - that is the nicest thing that they can say to me. :) Happy Birthday Mom,I love you.

New news....

Larson got a new haircut.

He did much better with the haircut this time, than he did last time. We cut half of it while he was sitting on a stool in the bathroom, and the other half while he was in the bathtub. The bathtub seemed to work pretty well - he was distracted enough not to care about the scissors.

Ryans 31st birthday is next Tuesday, but he got one of his gifts a little early (thanks to Glenn & Linda and my parents) this is Ryan with his new grill!

Little Larson Hubbord....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Larson's new thing is that he LOVES to help in the kitchen. We have this little step ladder, and anytime that I am doing anything on the kitchen counters, he wants to get up on it and help me. Here are some pics of him helping me bake banana bread. I wish you could see the flour on his face more clearly. He got a little taste of the sugar - which he really liked, so when I brought out the flour, he tried to get a big taste of that.....needless to say, he was a little disappointed.
Monday's Musings
One of our girls in Sunday School told us this week that "our dad doesn't play with us on Sundays, because it is his football watching day!" I told Ryan that we must prevent that from happening in our home! So, he & Secily watched some football together - I think we will start a little Sunday tradition - like a picnic in the family room as we watch the games. (I use the term "we" very loosly here).
In other news:
Secily rolled over this week - from her stomach to her back!
Larson has decided that saying "Mom" takes up way too much of his time. I am now officially known as "Um."
This is me trying to get a picture of Larson & I together......
Where there's a will.....
...there is a way.
We have been working on breaking Larson of his pacifier habit since before Secily was born. He was really great about not having it, he didn't need it to go to bed, or for naps, but then along came Secily, and with her came new pacifiers. So, although Larson technically no longer has a paci, he tries to steal Secily's all the time. He now knows that he gets in trouble for stealing Secily's paci, so he has to make do with what he can find around the house.........
Yes, that is a medicine dropper. I guess we can say he is very creative, and resourceful.
Everything's Bigger in Texas
Apparently that is true - because my sweet little Texan had her 4 month check-up today and weighed in at a whopping 17.4 lbs!! They are a cute 17.4 pounds though....how can you not love all that chub, and all those chins.....
I did go to the doctor with the high hopes that he would not be able to hear her heart murmer any more, but, he did. So, the hole still has not closed - he said that the murmer is louder, which means that the hole is probably shrinking, so we are thankful for that. Prayers for her little heart are still much appreciated!
Beary cute
Ok, so it was freaking me out having a video of my child in the bathtub on the internet, (see previous post) so I pulled it. So sorry.
Here are some pictures of the kiddos instead.
Here is Secily with our big teddy bear. She is going to be 4 months old tomorrow. I bought her new p.j.'s yesterday - they are 9 months. Yes, she's that big!
Of course, after Secily posed with the teddy, Larson wanted to too....
And then Larson wanted to hold Secily while posing with the teddy bear
Secily's thoughts on the matter....
