Cletus Take the Reel

Sadly, I acknowledge that the greatness of  "Weird Al" Yankovic will not be around forever.  What then?  Who will lead us?  Who will carry the torch?  I submit the following candidate for discussion.

Half my life

I have been driving over half my life. That's why it is supremely
embarrassing to admit (although I do so under the all comforting mask
of the Internet) that yesterday when I replaced my windshield wipers,
I learned the driver and passenger wipers are different sizes.

Easter

Our Easter got off to an early start, when last weekend our car got "peeped" The culprits are still unknown....

The kids are very excited when anything happens that results in them getting candy, so they were ready for the egg hunt! Here they are with their new Easter baskets from Kakkie & P-Funk. (translation - Aunt Katherine & Uncle Preston)

Larson with his most prized possession from the hunt.......the push pop!

Secily on the hunt...

Larson telling SuperDave about the Easter Egg hunt, and of course, about his push pop. He did say that he would share with Super, but only the chocolate & jelly beans, not the beloved push pop.

We had SuperDave, Jeff & Chandra & 3 other couples over for Easter dinner. It was a great time, but it looks like Jeff has been spending a little too much time around Ryan.....

If you ask Larson what Easter is all about he will tell you "It's when Jesus died, and then He came backed." Yes, He did. And we are so thankful.
He is Risen!

Pink Boots

Oh how sweet he's got his arms wrapped around his sister in a loving
embrace...oh wait nevermind he's just trying to restrain her from
destroying his hotwheels collection.

Dr. Livingston I presume?

Quotes.

Here are a few gems from Larson today:

This morning after breakfast Larson says: "I am going outside, and Secily, you stay inside with Mom. Don't be grumpy Sissy, and don't cry, because I just want you to be safe."
***************************************
We walk in the door after going to the Y, and Larson goes "Aaaahhhhhh. Sweet, sweet home."

Sorry Scout, no Pappa Johns

Larson: "Dogs eat water and dog food"
Me: "Yep"
Larson: "You know what cats eat?"
Me: "Tell me"
Larson: "Cats eat carrots and pizza"

Banker

Garrett Hand. Serving the banking needs of America. Not surprisingly
at the "Bank of America".

Happy Anniversary Ryan!

Six years ago today......

Well, this technically is the day before - at our rehearsal dinner. This is pretty much sums it all up - by the end, Alan was juggling. A great evening.

The morning of, (we got married at 6:30 on a Sunday) we had a brunch & church service for our friends & family.

After we said "I Do".
Our first dance. We had a jazz combo playing, we danced to "Fly Me to the Moon".

Our sparkly departure.
In honor of the 6th anniversary, here are 6 things about Ryan that I love.....
1. He is a really good listener.
2. He is a great dad - very fun, also very consistent.
3. He loves to laugh - really laugh - like you are having a hard time breathing because you are laughing so hard.
4. He is really calm (which is especially good to balance out my not-so-calmness)
5. When he wants to do or learn something, he goes all out to do it.
6. He puts on pretenses for no one. He is himself, always.

Happy Anniversary Ryan. I love you.

Burgertime

In honor of my brother Alan, who loved the video game and Mark Zacharias who has faithfully ordered a burger every time I have been out to eat with him:

I ordered a $8.13 triple meat, triple cheese and bacon Whataburger. You're probably imagining how much regret I was experiencing after spending that much money shaving 3 years off my time on Earth. Truth is, I'm asking "Where's the Quad"?

Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful!

It snowed again. This time we had the whole family out enjoying it.

We built a bigger snowman.
And taught Larson how to throw a snowball. You can see this one is headed straight at me!
I really enjoyed the snow we got this year - brought back many fun, snowy, childhood memories! I did have to laugh out loud at the news people as they described the 4 inches that we got as "treacherous". :)

Haircut

#2 guard all the way around. The last haircut I paid for was during
the Clinton administration.

Mike Tyson

Nothing builds small group unity like a heated discussion over whether
three 30 something year old men (us) could defeat Mike Tyson in his
prime.

It snowed and...

Secily said "Put me in coach"

Mr. Coffee

After six good and faithful years our coffee maker broke. Say hello
to Mr. Coffee 2008.

Snow....in March....in Texas! (& a hodgepodge of other things)

This morning we woke up to a blanket of snow! It was so fun, we went out first thing this morning to play (before it had time to melt!)

We built a snowman, kind-of like the one my sister-in-law Lesley made.....kind-of.

Our snowmen didn't last long......

In other news......

This is what the kids were doing this weekend while I was out of town! Looks like fun for the kids, and looks just plain funny for anyone who happened to be walking by! (This picture is a little shout out to my cousin Becky whose "stroller-blading husband" would fit in great around here!) You must come visit.

*************************************************
Larson continues to amuse us with his thoughts on the world, and his picking up of phrases - a couple of our recent favorites are:

When leaving anywhere in a hurry he loudly proclaims "I'm out-from-here!"

As we were driving to Bryan & Eraina's I was talking about how much fun it would be to see baby Lucy, and Larson asks me in a sweet, thoughtful voice "Mom, do we kick babies?"
Thanks for asking Larson. No. We don't.

Never a dull moment!
