Team in Training
Secily loves to do what her older brother does. And, apparently, he's wearing off on her. Yesterday, when Secily should have been sitting nicely in the stroller, she decided instead to leap out of it, as I was still pushing it, making her basically fly through the air and land flat on her nose.
Larson was obviously pleased with her decision to take action in this way.
And today, he continued his training by helping her take her first plunge off the coffee table onto the couch cushions.
What else are big brothers for...right?

Jet Noise
The bumper sticker on the bottom right says "I love Jet Noise". I
feel in general jet noise is widely under appreciated.

The Swim Diaper
On the subject of buying swim diapers; my friend, the one they call
dog, said it best: "Its basically like taking out a second mortgage"

And I quote....
Today Larson was shooting his nerf gun around the house. He aimed for the dishwasher, missed and then muttered "That was disappointing."
Fuzzy Dice
Its hard to know exactly what kind of person rolls with the fuzzy
dice. But my best guess is that they own at least one vest.

Sunday Greeting Time
Problem: I enjoy church, but I do not enjoy the greeting time at church. Not my church specifically, but any greeting time at any church. I want the new comers to feel welcome but I feel just as awkward when I'm visiting a church. Next year I'm signing up to work on the video crew, and I'm pumped because I'll be freed from the shackles of "The Greeting". Maybe one of the reasons churches stick with a greeting time is so that people will sign up for camera crew.

Date Night.
I know all the marriage books say that you should go on a date with your spouse AT LEAST once a month, if not more often than that. But really - of all the young couples out there - who are working, and have little kids at home....who actually does that!? Sure, there are nights that you could go out but, you are so tired that if you were to go out until midnight there is a real possibility that you would not be physically able to get out of bed the next morning.
But excuses are out the window tonight, because Uncle Bryan is over & Ryan & I are going out (whoopwhoop!).

Cousins!
Lucy came by to play with us today. She was such a good sport about being held by her cousins....
Lucy seems fine. Larson...well, grin & bear it right!?
I think Secily enjoyed holding Lucy a little more than Lucy enjoyed being held!
Lucy did love our exersaucer! And when Larson asked her if she wanted to talk about Spiderman, she responded appropriately with a little grunt.
What a sweetie!

Budding.
Daily Observer
I have to observe 5 hours in the cockpit every year so yesterday I flew around. On the last leg the Captain started briefing me on emergency procedures..blah, blah, blah..I was really thinking more about his mustache than anything else, but snapped out it when I heard "fire...you're responsible...keep passengers out of the cockpit...in case were both incapacitated". Um what? Luckily, there were no emergencies.

The Ups & the Downs of June 18
Let's start with the "ups":
Today is Alan's birthday! So happy birthday Alan - he and Glenn came to town a few weeks ago (when I was in my slacking blogger stage), and I didn't post any pictures from their trip. Well, here they are....
The kids love "Big Al" and are so happy whenever they get to see him. He is always so willing to play with, or read to them. And here is a fun-fact about Big Al - he can juggle flaming torches.
The other UP of the day was that our good friends Tim & Sarah had their 3rd baby! They had their little girl, Emily, at 8:50 this morning. We are super happy for them!
And the downs.....
Larson's teeth still hurt. He muttered under his breath today "ah. I just need to get some new teeth." Poor kid. Thankfully we have a dentist appointment tomorrow - hopefully they can help us out!
Our trip to Target.
To start it all off, the minute we stepped into the store, Larson accidentally stepped on the back of my flip flop causing the strap in between my toes to break. arg. So now I am shuffle-stepping around the store.
And Secily....Secily didn't want to ride in the cart, so she would stand up and launch herself into my arms (even if I wasn't totally paying attention - she would just jump & hope for a catch), so I decide to get tough and strap her in. This did not make Secily happy, she starts to cry....very loudly. I deal with the stares of the other Target shoppers for awhile, and then give in to Secily's pleas to walk. (I know, I know, I'm weak.) All is well until Secily decides that she doesn't want to walk, she wants me to hold her - as I am pushing the shopping cart. I tell her no, she can either get in the cart or she can walk. She tells me she wants to walk. So, I start to walk, Secily doesn't. She just lays down in the middle of the aisle. Then, in keeping with the theme of "The very bad trip to Target", when I tell Secily to get up and come to me, she begins to loudly protest. So, I want to go quickly and get her - only I have my bum flip-flop that is causing me to shuffle/jump/high step/walk over to her. I made it over to her (not so quickly) got her in the cart and we checked out immediately and went home.
I'm sure my Mother-of-the-Year award is on it's way to my house right now......

(ok, so this pic wasn't really taken a few weeks ago, it was more like a few months ago, but I like it)

Ouch!
We were over at Tim & Sarah's last night for a Father's Day dinner. (Here is Ryan in his new t-shirt).
Larson & Lauren were playing & having fun as usual, until.....
the collision with Larson's front teeth, and the ride-on tractor.
Poor kid - his front teeth are a mess, his gums are black, his lips are so swollen that he looks like a Who from Whoville, he hasn't eaten anything since lunch yesterday....
Should this surprise me, that something like this should happen to my little 3 year old boy who loves to do things like this:
No, it shouldn't surprise me, but I still feel bad for him!
