Bed-rest Update.

Well, I have officially been on bed rest for 2.5 weeks. I appreciate all of the good book suggestions...The Twilight Series seems to be the hottest recommendation right now - and I have them on my list. My sweet friend is sending them to me, so I will catch up with the rest of the world and see for myself if I get sucked into the world of teenage vampires. In the meantime, I have been doing some other reading. So far I have read:

1. The Appeal by John Grisham. I usually really like Grisham, but I found this one to be a little boring. Not enough connection with any one character.

2. The Giver by Lois Lowry. I think most American children have read this somewhere in their grade school years, but it passed me by. It was a really easy read, but very interesting. It held my attention.

3. Ice Bound by Dr. Jerri Nielsen with Maryanne Vollers. I really liked this book. A doctor goes down to the South Pole to take care of the scientists who are working there - no one in and no one out for 8 months as it is too cold to land a plane....gets really interesting when she finds that she has breast cancer, and must treat herself.

4. The Broker by John Grisham. Started this one, got about 100 pages in and then realized that I have read it before. Dang.

I have also been trying to keep up with the Bible study that I was part of before I went under "house arrest". Esther. It's been ok... not one of my favorite Beth Moore studies, but still good to be in the Word!

I won't tell you how many issues of US, InStyle, Entertainment magazines I have read. Let's just say I'm keeping up with what's going on in the entertainment industry.

In addition to my reading, I have become slightly addicted to the TV series Alias. LOVE IT.

As I have been filling my time with all of the above, I know you must be wondering....who is caring for the children!? Thankfully, our families are awesome. Seriously, awesome.

My parents take over whenever Ryan is at work - so the kids are getting some great Grandma & Grandpa time. Secily loves reading....here are she & Grandpa reading a bedtime story....

Bryan & Eraina have come up to help (& keep me company!) Lucy & Secily have matching p.j.'s. So sweet.

Even my In-Laws came all the way from Ohio for the weekend to help out, and give my parents a break. Preston & Katherine came too - and we had an in-house Valentines' weekend. I don't have any pictures from their visit, but here is one from when we went to Houston last month....

Some days I decide to break all the rules and go sit outside for a little while as the kids play. I miss being active with them SO MUCH!!!

Larson was busy hanging out in the tree,

And Secily was practicing being 12. I think by the time she actually turns 12, she'll have this look down pat. The funny thing is, she wasn't even mad, or trying to be sassy.....just trying out a few new facial expressions!

I've made it to 30+ weeks, and my Dr. says that the baby looks great, so all of the bed rest is worth it. Hopefully this baby can just stay put a few more weeks!

Awhh, so great to hear from you and that you're doing well!

Have you read "Wild at Heart?" It's really a book meant for boys but it's a very interesting look into the male mind. Another great teenage book, "He's Just Not That Into You." I mean, completely doesn't apply to your life but it did make me laugh a lot. :)

Hey, Karin! We are continuing to pray for you! Brad just finished "The Scam" by James Byron Huggins...he loved it. I just finished "The Last Sin Eater" for like the 5th time...I know you've read all of Francine's books, though. I also recently read Josh Hamilton's biography. It was really good and not in my typical genre. You might like the change...baseball and drugs. Anyway, I hope you are feeling well! Love you!
